Missouri just as good for travelling as far away places
Missouri is known as the Show-Me State, and although the exact origins of this odd term are as varied as they are uncertain, there certainly is much that the state of Missouri has to show tourists, both local and out-of-state alike. During these times of recession, when distant travel is prohibitive, now might be the time for Missourians to turn their attention to destinations closer to home.
Missouri is a tourist destination of diversity; it may not rank up there with Florida, California, New York and Louisiana, but it home to two of the largest metropolitan areas in the country (Kansas City Metropolitan Area and Greater St Louis). There are also interesting smaller towns that have made a name for themselves as being visitor friendly, while several significant natural areas make the state a popular destination for nature lovers.
