Missouri just as good for travelling as far away places

Missouri is a tourist destination of diversity; it may not rank up there with Florida, California, New York and Louisiana, but it home to two of the largest metropolitan areas in the country (Kansas City Metropolitan Area and Greater St Louis). There are also interesting smaller towns that have made a name for themselves as being visitor friendly, while several significant natural areas make the state a popular destination for nature lovers.
St. Louis is home to famous landmarks and culture. It is here that visitors can ride to the very top of the massive Gateway Arch or browse the art exhibits at the St Louis Art Museum, a world-class facility built for the World Fair which was held in St Louis in 1904. For those more interested in contemporary culture, the kind that comes with nachos, a tour of the Budweiser Brewery provides a behind the scenes glimpse into the beer that has united the nation for so many years.
When the city gets too much, or if the idea of visiting a large urban area already puts you off, visit the Ozarks, a vast mountain range that makes up the southern half of Missouri and extends into three other states (Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas). The area is 47,000 square miles in size, which is roughly half the size of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, so exploring it to its full would be a heady undertaking, but there are a few significant stops.
Visit some of the caves that exist in the area, this region holds the majority of the 6000 plus caves in Missouri, it is also a hub for boating, hiking, swimming, fishing and just about any other water activity. When nature has been soaked up to its fill, head over to Branson, a smallish tourist city of just 6000 people with a stunning array of attractions such as the 40 theatres that put on a range of shows each night, the Hollywood Wax Museum, and the Titanic Museum, which has a rather macabre little ironic twist to its tours.
As visitors step aboard the floating museum, which is modeled on the bow of the original Titanic, they get a passenger ticket, at the end of the tour, which is designed to give one the impression of having been a passenger, it is revealed whether or not your original ticket-holder survived the sinking.
With the rural outings out the way, head for Kansas City, the barbeque capital of the country with over 100 barbeque restaurants operating here. It also has 200 fountains, more fountains than any other city apart from Rome and is also home to two major amusement parks; World of Fun and Oceans of Fun, which provide Disneyland-like excitement without having to make the several thousand mile trip.
Last but not least, make your way to Hannibal, a town more endearing than the name suggests. Located in the northeast on the famous Mississippi River, this was the birthplace and boyhood home of Mark Twain, one of the great American writers of his time. The many homes and locations that inspired some of his most famous characters can be explored such as the house that inspired, Huckleberry Finn a fictional American boy that was, at one time, as famous and idolized as the UK’s current Harry Potter.
